Q: How do I set up my IPG to do a PPP?

A: PPP Setup On The IPG

Set up PPP for DBU

Go to PPP Settings
  • (PPP0 is selected by default)
  • Select Outgoing PPP
  • Select Modem for the port
  • Enter the phone number, username and password
  • If you want the connection to stay up all the time when the Internet is down, leave Inactivity timeout 0. Otherwise, specify when you want it to hangup.
  • Leave Chat script and Advanced options default
  • Click Save Changes
If you have a secondary number to access the ISP, select PPP1 and set it up with the second number.

On the PPP page, under Network backup
  • Select the Primary Backup device as PPP0
  • If you configured PPP1, set it as the Secondary
  • You can leave the default Check Peers
  • Click Save Network Backup

In case we do need to do some diagnostics, please set up logging in the unit:

Go to Log Files and Settings
  • Check the Modem port
  • Check Serial events and TTY Events
  • Check Service events and PPP events
  • Click Apply Changes

To view the log, go to System Log in the menu. Or click "save" next to System Log in the menu to save to a file to send to us for analysis.
