Adapting
an RCS/3000 to an RCS/4000 Network |
| |
If
you are using your RCS/3000 to replace
a Systech RCS/4000 port server or
including it in a network that already
contains RCS/4000s, you may want to
use an adapter on your RCS/3000 serial
port that maps the RCS/3000 DB-9 connector
to an RJ-45 connector emulating the
RCS/4000 RJ-45 serial ports. The adapter
would allow you to use your existing
cables to connect to the RCS/3000.
Information and a diagram for an RCS/3000
to RCS/4000 adapter are available
in the on-line RCS/3000 Administrator's
Guide in the section, Adapting Your
RCS/3000 to an RCS/4000 Network |

Available
for UNIX Systems. Allows
you to have telnet sessions

you to have the same tty
name every time you log
in. |
 |
|
| The
r4000 Utility |
Available
for UNIX and Windows 95/98/NT/XP.
Provides command line
uploads and downloads
from the RCS/4000. Allows
you to script updates
of software and configurations
for your field installation.
|
 |
|
| The
rtn Utility |
Available
for UNIX. Creates a pseudo-tty
(pty) device on the host
that is connected via
TELNET or raw TCP to an
RCS/4000 serial port.
Allows UNIX programs such
as tip(1C) and uucp(1C)
to access serial devices
attached to RCS/4000 ports.
