New Broadband Connection for Merchants Incorporates Systech Dial-to-IP Technology

San Diego, CA - IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Systech Corporation and Contour Networks have collaborated on the development of a new dial to high-speed cellular connection solution for a variety of electronic payment and transaction applications, particularly ATMs and payment terminals at merchant locations. The new connection solution incorporates a cellular interface and modem into Systech's proven Internet Payment Gateway products, providing a wireless Internet connection instead of an Ethernet-based Internet connection.

The dial to high speed cellular unit addresses problems faced by a number of merchants: 1) no wired high speed network access is available at the location; 2) in some cases, where wired broadband access is available, connection of ATMs and payment terminals is not permitted on the network at the merchant’s location; 3) prices for dial connections continue to rise, making cellular connections comparatively much more affordable; and 4) transient network access is needed, for example at trade fairs and sporting events. According to Jon Goby, Systech Vice President, Sales, “The new dial to cellular solution directly addresses these problems so that merchants can realize faster and less expensive IP-based transactions, trade a $35 per month phone line for an under $10 per month cellular connection, and avoid having to replace existing dial-based hardware.”

For Contour’s secure, wireless connectivity services, Henry Oat, Contour’s Director of Sales stated, “We needed a cost effective and proven connection solution for the merchant location. Systech is the dial-to-IP solution of choice for payment processors and electronic transaction networks and systems.” The resulting dial-to-cellular unit being deployed to Contour’s customers incorporates a CDMA cellular interface, a 153 Kbps data rate cellular modem, and your choice of Contour’s Private Cellular Network or the latest SSL encryption for Internet-based transactions. Both are PCI certified.

In targeting the estimated 30 - 40% of installed ATMs and payment terminals with dial lines or other expensive, less convenient types of connectivity, “plug and play” is a key market requirement. Contour’s Oat further commented, “The dial to high speed cellular solution, which we have developed working with Systech, requires no changes to our customers ATMs or payment terminals and applications.”
